English, math, science, history and...gym? P.E. might be your new core course

As obesity rates continue to climb—currently 17 percent of children under the age of 19 in the U.S. clock in way over their recommended BMI—organizations and physicians keep on scrambling to find a solution. The latest proposal? Adding gym class to the current roster of core subjects.

In some school districts, phys ed is being cut alongside art and music, and in places where dodgeball and the annual mile run still rule the school, gym periods typically aren’t daily affairs. With about half of American youth getting at least an around of physical activity daily, per a report from the Institute of Medicine, it might just be time to make sweat seshes mandatory.

What do you think of this recommendation, babes? How does your school do P.E.?
