We tried it, now win it! Easy yoga workouts you can do in 20 minutes

A few mornings ago, I grabbed my yoga mat, popped A.M./P.M. Yoga for Beginners into the DVD player and settled in for a workout. I admit it, I was not a happy camper: Getting up earlier than usual for yoga? Not my M.O.

The DVD comes with two workouts you ideally do in one day—the a.m. section in the morning to energize you, the p.m. section in the afternoon or evening to relax you.  The a.m. workout is led by acclaimed yoga instructor Rodney Yee—on the beach, natch. Once I got into the groove, I felt my body start to throw off the sleepiness, loosen up and (shocker of shockers) wake up.  The moves were easy to follow and didn’t leave me feeling like an inflexible goofball doing silly things at the crack of dawn. And by the time it was over, I felt really good about myself and ready to conquer the day. Who can say no to a li’l dose of carpe diem?

Not I, apparently, because as soon as I got home that evening, I stretched back out on the floor for round 2, a p.m. yoga session led by Patricia Walden. As soon as I started focusing on my breathing, I noticed the stress leaving my body—ahh. Whether it’s a long day at work, a fight with my parents or simply the rigors of everyday life, I think this is one I’ll be coming back to. It’s easy, it’s paced slowly and each workout is under 30 minutes, so it’s easy to squeeze in to my daily routine.

Want to score your own copy of A.M./P.M. Yoga for Beginners and give yoga a try? Well, lucky for you, we talked to the amazing folks at Gaiam and they’re letting us give away two copies!
