The *sweetest* way to celebrate National Gluten-Free Day!

It seems like there's a national day for *everything* from talking like a pirate to left-handed awareness to, yes, even gluten-free noms. Today is National Gluten-Free Day and, whether you're GF or not, you can still enjoy a confectionary creation with one of our recipes below, inspired by the new line of gluten-free goodies from Ava's Cupcakes in Rockaway, N.J. which head chef Michelle Spell started after realizing there was a huge need. (P.S.: If Ava's Cupcakes sounds familiar, it probably is...the sweet shop was on Food Network's Cupcake Wars!).

A lot of people equate gluten-free with flavor-free, which is totally wrong, according to Michelle. Her top tip for nailing no-gluten baking? "Stay creative and spruce up 'plain' flavors! A gluten-free vanilla cupcake can be turned into a bright and delicious lemon cupcake with the simple addition of some lemon zest and a bit of extractbringing a dull flavor to life while taking the attention away from the 'not-so common' flavors of gluten-free flours."

If you don't live in NYC, no worries, babes. We've rounded up some copycat GF recipes so you can whip up your own versions of Ava's Cupcakes at home.
