CRUSHES

Advice

Here's why you should fly solo this school year

With the school hallways filling up with familiar faces, pretty soon you'll start to feel the pressure of crushes and dating again. And with fall dances right around the corner, it's easy to get caught up in all the drama. There are countless movies, TV shows and books with the same plot line: girl meets the love of her life and, as a result, girl loses herself and her friends. All of these stories illustrate how important is to not let your relationship take over your life. Having a sweetie is great, but they shouldn't be your main focus during such an important time in your life. Still not convinced? Here are four reasons to fly solo this school year.

Say bye-bye to unnecessary stress

Simply put, relationship drama can be really stressful. If you're constantly thinking about your special someone and making decisions based on them instead of yourself, things can get pretty heavy. By going beau-free, you'll avoid this extra pressure.

You can focus on your schoolwork

The less time you spend worrying about finding "the one" or on dates, the more time you can spend studying and doing your homework. Dating is known to mix up priorities, and your studies should always be at the top of your to-do list.

There's time to make your other relationships stronger

Instead of working on a romantic relationship, spend some time building up your friendships and strengthening ties with your family. Remember, friendships last forever while some middle and high school romances don't.

You're free to crush on anyone you want

Without a single sweetie to devote your time to, you can crush on whomever you'd like. That cutie who smiled at you in chemistry? Yep. That beautiful babe that complimented your badminton skills in gym? Them too!

Adversely, if you spent the summer livin' it up with your gal pals and are sick of the #singlelife, here are few ways to capture a cutie this school year.
