Painfully shy around guys? Here's how to bust outta your shell

I’m not good with small talk and being funny and random. When I’m home, I can do anything, but when I am around guys, I get quiet and feel like the odd one out.

Dear Small Talk,

Most girls feel more comfortable one-on-one than in a group, but speaking up gets easier and easier. Since small talk can lead to bigger discussions, try easy compliments, no-risk remarks and conversation-starters about music, sports, TV or headline news. Your goal isn’t to entertain a crowd or to be chatty and cheerful 24/7, it’s to connect with a guy or two. Thoughtfulness counts, too. Be the one who asks, “How was the movie?” or “How was your weekend?” And keep making plans one guy at a time.
