Would you attend a break up workshop?

Breaking up is stressful, emotionally draining and usually comes with many tears, tissues and pints of ice cream. But what if we told you that there's a better way to cope? Allow us to introduce you to the Break Up Summit. Recently, hundreds of Boston teens attended Start Strong’s 8th annual Break Up Summit, hosted by the Boston Public Health Commission (BPHC).

What is the Break Up Summit?
The Break Up Summit is a day-long event that teaches teens to end relationships in a healthy way. This years theme was "Chase Your Goals, Not a Post," and the focus was to help teens master break ups in a time where DM’s, Snapchats and tweets replace face-to-face communication.

What exactly did the participants do?
The teens broke off into groups of 15 to answer relationship and breakup questions. The workshop addressed #relationshipgoals, sliding into the DM’S and even sidechicks. Students answered questions such as "If you’re not constantly posting pictures of your partner, how will anyone know you love each other?" And "Is it acceptable to make a meme about your ex?" The workshop also focused on tougher subjects such as physical or sexual violence.

Our thoughts? This sounds like an incredibly worthwhile thing for teens (and, well, even adults!) to attend. If we had this type of support during our past break ups, we would have gotten over our exes *much* sooner!
