CRUSHES

Advice

Here's why you should tell your crush how you feel

Let’s face it, telling your crush how you feel is downright terrifying. Almost nothing compares to the feeling that kicks in when you simply say hello to your crush. Just the thought of telling them how you feel—like that you love the way their eyes sparkle when they laugh and how they say "orange"—makes your head spin. Sharing your feelings is worth every last bead of sweat though, babe. Read on for seven reasons why you should embrace the nerves and spill your guts.

1. It's a thrill

The rush of adrenaline you'll get from being so vulnerable will leave you buzzing for days. And if your crush has the same exact feelings back? That buzz will last months.

2. You'll look *super* confident

Show your crush that you’re oozing self-esteem. Give them the idea that you’re strong and not afraid of sharing your feelings—it's sure to leave a lasting impression.

3. It's good practice

Even though your entire body may be trembling, telling your current crush how you feel will make you more comfortable speaking your mind in relationships in the future—whether it's the crush you're trying to fess up to now or your #endgame sweetie down the line.

4. You'll stop overthinking

The longer you hold your feelings in, the longer they'll bounce around in your brain and drive you insane. As soon as you express your emotions, that will stop. Put your mind at ease and just be honest with the cutie you've had your eye on.

5. They deserve to know

If your crush is your BFF or someone you've known for a long time, it makes sense to be extra nervous about fessing up your feelings—but it's also all the more reason to do so. Even if you've just been admiring this potential bae from afar and you two don't know each other very well, it's still unfair to them to keep them in the dark.

6. You'll be supported

No matter what happens after you speak your truth, your fam and your besties will support you. They'll be able to help you figure out the next step, whether you need a shoulder to lean on or someone to celebrate with.

7. You'll finally know

At the end of the day, your crush is going to either say that they feel the same way or that they don't. It will all happen in less than a minute, and it won't be quite as tragic as you think. If they like you back, yay! If they don't, well then frankly, you don’t need them. Either way, you can move on to a new chapter in your life and just breathe.
