Winter Dresses

I’m looking for really cute, but inexpensive dresses. I need one that's not too summery and is warm enough for winter. Do you have any suggestions?

Warm and wooly dresses are perfect for this time of year. Loads of wintry dresses are on sale, so finding one on a budget is definitely doable. Tights or leggings and boots (or closed-toe pumps) help keep the cold out. A scarf or wrap will keep you cozy.

Dottie Dress, $30, fredflare.com

Sweater dresses are a great go-to when temps drop. This one is short sleeved, but they threw a long-sleeve under it. You could swap the knit belt it comes with for a wide cincher to make it more your own. Skip past knit tights (and go for awesome opaque ones!) or risk a yarn overload.

Air-light frocks are fab for spring, but chilly weather demands thicker fabrics. Flannel, wool, knits and even sweatshirt material all make for great picks. Seek out turtlenecks or cowls to keep ya warm. Military detailing gives this one spot-on structure.

Have fun!

Fashion Resolutions

As 2008 comes to an eventful close and the New Year is only a step around the corner, it's time to make those resolutions.  We brained up some serious style rezzies that'll make you look amazing. Whether ya wanna try something trendy or bust outta your jean routine, here are our fab ideas!

Know What You've Got
A total dread, we know! But it's a must, ladies. Dump everything out of your closet and get ready for some serious organizing. Separate your clothes by season. Once that's done, sort out what fits and what doesn't. What ya wear and what won't. Donate the unwanted pile. As for the rest, color code and neatly pack it back in. Who knows, maybe you'll find some cool stuff.

Be Bold, Be Daring
Enough with playing it safe, girlfriend. This year is the year to step outside of the color and style comfort zone. If you've never owned an electric blue sweatshirt or never dreamed about sporting girly platforms, it's totally time. Turn heads with outrageous colors and funky clothes.

Deck It Out With More
Accessorize, baby! Make an effort in the coming year to add ice to every outfit. Try those chandelier earrings you never had the chance to jingle. Add a simple wrist cuff to an outfit. Trust us, it'll make your simple T and jeans outfit scream "styyyyle!" Long necklaces are the essence of a totally chic look. Go for it!

Drop It Like It's Hot!
Girl…YOU. ARE. GORGEOUS! And don't you forget it. Get your own thing going on instead of going with the flow of everyone around ya. Sure, UGGs may be in and liquid leggings are pretty fresh, but if you're bored with a style, ditch it. As you prepare your outfits for school and different events, keep in mind who you are and what YOU like. Express yourself through what you wear and what you don't wear. But most importantly, be comfortable in your clothes.

Get Girly
With the new year comes new trends, chicas! Fashion Week runway shows have already hinted at what's to come in 2009 and we're here to give you a heads up. Try adorable baby laces, major frills, and loads of feathers. Oversized bows are an option, too. Keep your eyes peeled, ladies, for these cute trends. Maybe spend some of your holiday loot snapping up sale versions?

Cute Winter Weather Boots

I’m going away in a few weeks and need a pair of cute winter boots. Do you have any ideas?

Snowy getaways are great—until your feet get soaked and totally chilled. Here are a few of our fave boots!

If you’re going to be battling some serious snow, opt for a pair of sneaker-like stompers. Look for words like “water-resistant” so your piggies will stay warm and dry!

Airwalk Shawna Boot, $45, payless.com

If you wanna keep the hems of your jeans dry and look adorable while doing it, opt for a pair of wild child moon boots. Poofy like a parka, they’ll keep your feet toasty.

Soulmates, $64, skechers.com

Not really planning on leaving the lodge? A pair of plaid booties gives ya that woodsie feel, without all the chill.

Make Over Your Wardrobe!

Do you have any outfits that a 6th grader can pull off? I wanna wear my stuff in a new way and try out a few new things.

Once you’ve got the basics (a few pairs of jeans, tees you love, cute shoes, leggings, boots, cardis) it’s all about mixing and matching to make new-to-you outfits.

Swap your go-to jeans for a skirt and bright tights. Trade in a hoodie for a soft sweater. Kick the Converse All-Stars aside (just for a second!) and pull on funky t-strap shoes. Don’t be afraid to mix dressy stuff with casual—that’s often the key to that hard-to-pin-down cool vibe

Great jewelry or a scarf
A major necklace or boho scarf instantly transforms an everyday outfit. Bright colors and bold pieces are surprisingly wearable so don’t stick to ho-hum shades. Plaid Mix Media Necklace, $38, ardenb.com

A top with structure
Clean-cut tops and jackets make you look instantly pulled together (and are way easy to wear). We like this military-inspired blazer, but you could swap it with a wool vest. Wear them over tees, tunics or camis. Windham Striped Blazer, $30, forever21.ccom

A funky top that you totally love
Whether it’s a ruffled sweater, classic cape or a bedazzled tunic, every girl should have a top that is just plain fun to wear. Pull it on over your fave tee and pair it with jeans or leggings and feel great all day. Kimchi Blue Ruffle Front Open Cardigan, $35, urbanoutfitters.com

A skirt or dress—that’s not too dressy
Every so often it’s great to look extra glam but you don’t need a new outfit every single time. Something versatile (like a plain dress or plaid skirt) means you can wear it in tons of diff ways. Plaid Wool Button Front Skirt, $16, gojane.com

A pair of not so practical shoes
We don’t mean shoes that hurt your feet or are crazy high-heeled. More like a pair of shoes that makes ya go, “Oooh! Those are cute—but when would I wear them?!” Promptly put them on whenever your outfit needs a kick of color or sass. Easy, right? Sigerson Morrison for Target Rocksie Jeweled Flats, $30, target.com
