Celebs We Love
You might already know her as Lindsay’s little sis, but Ali Lohan is working hard this fall to make sure that’s not the only way people know her. Her new movie, Mostly Ghostly (with cutie Sterling Beaumon!) was released last week, and she’s got a slew of other projects, including a music deal and her reality TV show. So when GL caught up with Ali recently, we had plenty to chat about!
Filming Mostly Ghostly was…“Fun! My character, Traci, is the older girl in school. She’s popular and pretty and Max (Sterling’s character) likes her. She helps him out with his magic tricks. It was great to play a different character, and I got to try something different.”
Why scary movies aren’t her thing: “The movies like
The Ring and stuff I watch, but then I can’t go to sleep. I’m like, ‘Mom!’ I saw Snakes on a Plane recently, and now I’m like, ‘Omigosh there are anacondas everywhere!’ I am petrified of snakes.”
Family Matters: “All of us are very grounded, normal people. The main point of the reality show (
Living Lohan on E!) was to prove that we are normal, and we aren’t this crazy family. All of us keep each other grounded, and we just try to be as normal as possible.”
N.Y. > L.A.: “We live in Merrick (Long Island, NY) and all the people here are really cool. I hang out with friends in my town, and when Lindsay is in town I get my nails done with her, so it’s normal. If we were to go somewhere in L.A., the paparazzi would be there. But I love Merrick because it’s away from all that crazy stuff.”
So she and Cody never fight, right? Wrong! “Cody and I aren’t perfect. We fight a lot, but at the end of the day we are a close family. It’s normal to fight. It would be awkward not to!”
What’s her favorite holiday? “I love Thanksgiving and the food. I’m obsessed with my mom’s stuffing. After Thanksgiving, I’m still eating stuffing for ten weeks.”
Did You Know? “My mom was a former Rockette, so she shows me some dance moves. I’ve been dancing since I was younger, and I’m working with a choreographer right now on some things to prepare for when I go on tour. I’m actually in the process of signing to a record label. But I love dancing. It keeps me really occupied.”
What a sweetie, right? Check out
Mostly Ghostly on DVD now, and look for Ali’s debut CD to hit music stores sometime early next year.

Hey, girlies. Check this out…
The number of children abused in the United States is increasing every year. And guess what? Members of The
AmberWatch Foundation have had enough! They’ve created an organization that raises awareness about the issue of child molestation, abuse and abduction, and have even extended it to a group of kids (The AmberWatch Foundation Youth Coalition) who were so concerned about the issues and wanted to do all they could to help keep their peers safe.
Even some of our fave teen celebs are joining in on the action! The AmberWatch Foundation Youth Coalition held a Fun Faire recently to raise awareness and welcomed Selena Gomez as the new chair, replacing music sensations Aly and AJ. Before handing over the title, the duo talked about their involvement in the organization for the last three years and the impact it’s had on their lives.
After speeches were made and introductions passed on, the celebs headed backstage for an afternoon of carnival games at the Backstage Creations VIP area, which included some awesome interactive games from UBISOFT. Pretty cool right?

Sterling Beaumon, star of the recently released DVD Mostly Ghostly, sat down for a chat with GL to dish on the filming the flick and all things spooky.
ON HIS CHARACTER MAX: “My character Max is kind of a geek at first. He is not really good at sports or with girls but tries to do magic. He discovers two ghosts in his house, a brother and sister named Nicky and Tara. They agree to help him with his magic, with girls and his family if he will help them find out what happened to them and to find their parents.”
ON FILMING THE SCARY FLICK: “It doesn’t seem spooky when filming because most of the most frightening things are special effects. In between takes we mostly did school—especially me cause being the lead meant that I was in almost every scene. When I finally finished school, we would skateboard (until they decided that was dangerous) and mostly I played guitar. I also hung out in the art director’s room and the editing room so I could see how they do everything with the movie.”
STUNT MAN: “The craziest stunt I did in the film was jumping down five big steps in the front of my house and landing. I also loved running through the spooky tunnel, doing a forward roll and ending up on my feet. The green screen stuff up in the air on the harness was great, too.”
NAME GAME: “My mom got my name Sterling from a baby name book and liked it because it means “top notch” and “No. 1.” Also, my half brother and sister have English names, so my mom and dad thought it went well with them. My middle name “Martin” was my grandpa’s name.” (and he was an actor, too!)
FEAR FACTOR: “I have a phobia of snakes, ghosts and people breaking into my house.”
DO YOU BELIEVE IN GHOSTS? “Yes, I do, but [director] Rich Correll says that ghosts definitely DO NOT exist.”
SCARY MOVIE: I am actually a bit scared of horror films, but the one that really scared me was “When a Stranger Calls.”
CANDY LAND: “My favorite Halloween candy is candy corn and Reese Peanut Butter Cups.”
WE NEVER KNEW! “I am a competitive figure skater and play hockey. Also, I have never gone more than a few months without being in a professional play or musical since I was 7 years old. I am also a great singer and want to have a music career.” We have no doubt that this guy’s going to conquer the music scene, too!
Sterling’s costar, Ali Lohan (you know, the gal with the famous sis?) chatted with us just the other day. She assured us that Sterling was an AWESOME guitar player. We talked about all that and more. Come back to girlslife.com next week for our exclusive interview!

He’s smoking up the big screen later this month in HSM 3, reprising his role as Ryan Evans. But until then, catch cutie Lucas Grabeel in his hilarious, new film
The Adventures of Food Boy when it lands on DVD
October 7.
Lucas plays lead character Ezra, a high school junior known for his kooky food challenges placed by friends, and whose world is turned upside down when he discovers he has the crazy superpower of making food appear in his hands!
Can Ezra use his unique abilities to gain popularity amongst the school, or will he give up the food fight forever?
We chatted with Lucas and are spilling some of the yummy deets he dished for us about the film right here!
The superhero story
“The story centralizes on this character Ezra. He feels like he has his whole life planned out. He wants to go to college and be a lawyer or doctor, something set in stone. Then he finds out he has this superpower. He has food shooting out of his hand and so he has to make a choice. He is going to either live this life that is planned out and financially secure, or try to make a difference in this world and use his gift to do something extraordinary.”
Ezra, by the books
“We are very different. He’s a little nerdy and really cares about academics and furthering himself in the by-the-book kind of future. That’s just the exact opposite of what I did with my life. I graduated high school, packed up the car and drove out to L.A.”
Filming was cheap…
“Everyday was great because it was an awesome group of people who were really pushing everyone’s limits. We had so many volunteers who were literally working for nothing. And you would never know that by watching it. It had so much heart and dedication. Every day was an extremely fun day, and at the same time a lot of hard work. There wasn’t anyone there that was complaining because if they didn’t want to be there they could just leave. So it was pretty cool.”
…and quick
“We did the whole movie in three and a half weeks. There was one day when we shot 12 pages of the script. Usually, on a film set you do one or two, maybe up to five if it is easy stuff and we did 12! That was a long [day]. Eighteen hours.”
The food was real. No special effects required
“[The craziest thing I’ve ever eaten] was right there. I really ate it! We didn’t have the time or resources to go out and get anything fake. The only thing that wasn’t real was the blender [scene] because I would have gotten sick. There was raw fish and crazy amounts of grossness in there. We switched that out for a chocolate milkshake. When you’re chugging frozen chocolate milkshakes for five takes, not only does your stomach get completely full but you’re having brain freezes. It was a tough challenge [but] you have to make it real.”
If Lucas could have one superpower it would be…
“To be a technopath. To have the power of controlling machines, computers, anything electronic at all. Make traffic lights work in my favor, ya know?”
…but for now he has some awesome hidden talents
“I can do tongue tricks and stand on my toes. I can run on my toes and jump on them, with all of my weight on one foot standing on my toes. I can’t do it on concrete, only on carpet. I need a little padding, but not much.”
WIN BIG!
