You Wrote It

"Perfectly Beautiful" - an original poem

Stop straightening your ringlets
They'll always bounce back when it gets wet,
Stop hating the color of your skin
No need to be ashamed of your origin,
Don't compare your size to someone else
You'll be surprised that they are also insecure,
Don't beat yourself up over the freckles on your face
Those are blessings you should never try to erase,
I hate it when you sit there wishing you had different colored eyes
Those brown eyes shine bright so don't believe society's lies.

You don't need any more affirmations
Since your beauty doesn't need anyone’s confirmation,
If only you could pin these words on every mirror so you could always see
That you are perfectly beautiful to me.
